Does this make any sense to you?
Mail to my 'son in law':
Either Gmail is pulling your leg or Comcast is giving 95% of the Internet Users who use their service a real good fucking for their money.

it is a rather big file you are trying to send!
with winrar you can divide it into smaller chunks of, let's say 10meg, and send them this way...

48MB however with winrar you have to expect the reciever to have it and know how to use it which most cases people wont for either. The whole point of this is we pay out 55 a month for broadband service so comcast shouldn't be limiting us on how large our mails can be.

I thought it's possible to make a self-extracting archive, but I'm not sure about that...
On the other hand, with http://www.yousendit.com/ you can send files up to 1Gb !

btw zip genius will make self extracting zip, cab's and rars. first select a folder or files you want to compress and then choose Send to zip genius and compress, then right click on any compressed file and choose create self extracting file. Erm this is late for you and probably wont help now but good info for those that need it... zip genius is free too..

Creating a self exe out of a 48MB zip file still wouldnt of allowed me to email it via comcast, the file still would of been too large. The issue wasnt a inability to make the file self exe and the issue wasnt not splitting the file to smaller attachments. The later of course wouldnt of worked for the reciever of the attachment unless they had the same program which most wouldnt. The issue was comcast is not allowing large attachments. I swear some of us geeks are like engineers, have to build a rocket to change a tire.
