I can't believe I didn't notice this before. I almost think this used to work on my 3.5 forum, but it isn't now.
I get the following error when trying to add an attachment to a PM:
2: mkdir(/home/sprecher/public_html/board/attachments/_admin/5): Permission denied (/home/sprecher/public_html/board/Sources/Attach.php ln 277)
|
|
Attach.php is set to CHMOD 777.
Once again... big thanks for your efforts on this project. I continue to patiently look forward to the release of 3.5!

Sorry about that.
I checked attachments/ and it is set to 777.
However, I never noticed this before -- each user within that folder has their own folder. Neat! Anyway, those are all set for CHMOD 755. Obviously I can manually change them, but as the folders are created, shouldn't they default to 777 like the parent folder?
Also, for what it's worth, 4 of the users (including myself as admin) have 2 sets of folders -- one with an underscore and one without. Why is this?
A general question -- how to attachments work in the new software? Are the user folders for attachments sent in PMs and attachments/ for all other attachments on the public board?

Hello kriskd,
there are two kinds of directories, one with a trailing slash, one without, because each user has a private and public attachment directory. When you get to the multiple attachment feature, all uploads made will be in the directory with the trailing slash. When you send your message, they get copied to the directory without the slash and thus are publicly available. The files copied then get deleted from the directory with the slash.
I have added this feature with the slash-directory because files which haven't been sent should still be available. This is much better than a temporary directory in my eyes.
Please regard that when you modify an attachment, all files will be modified correctly.
I will add the function to chmod the directories automatically to 777.

I like your volcano pics Data, I didnt know you folks in Germany had active volcanos!
Here's a test standard attachment:
As you see, it's missing the file. The file is actually located in /supermod/community/attachments/

FYI for those who follow these posts Datarunner is ironing out all of the attachment related bugs we have going on right now and he's doing a fine job.
