Well, the unthinkable happened to my forum this week. My webhost's server died along with my data. They were able to restore it back to February 11 and the most current backup I had was January 25 so I had to take what they provided and break it to my forum members gently that we lost 5 weeks of posts.
I am now trying to get a chron job script working that will do daily backups of my db and e-mail them to me.
So, if I can save just one message forum by someone doing more regular backups than what I had been doing, my work will be complete.
Now join hands while I read a eulogy for my 5 weeks of lost posts!

Ouch.. so sorry to hear about your disastor.. 
Tell your users that they can like, pretend they are on a time machine and that you took them back a few weeks so that if they had made any bad mistakes or started any flame wars they are now absolved.

Actually, the 5 week data dump did get rid of one nasty flame war, so something positive did come out of all this!
And, yes, I'm continuing to do my daily backups. Having trouble getting the chron job to work that should e-mail me backups. Would anyone like me to post those details and perhaps offer some suggestions to help me get it going?
