* sent via admin mail to members and also posted in the announce, sorry for the duplicate mail but I need to also make sure our mailer works in announce!

Hello again! Just want to remind the SuperMod fans that We're gearing up to release our next better than ever creation!

Fellow programmers / team mates I've been working on the CSS style sheet conversions all day today June 24th, every single file on the website is changed so do not overwrite my work with yours! (I'll be happy when I get us guys into a CVS system finally!).

Friends of SuperMod please stop in and take a look around, things appear a little different and we could use your input and sharp eye if you see anything that needs fixing! It's great to work on this package for you and we think you'll enjoy what we've done to it!

Our next release will feature the following:
1. Multiple file attachments in posts * and * in instant messages (blow that fed rule 2257!).
2. A brand new ground up mail system that hides everyone?s addys, supports admin to all file attachments, is completely configurable even down to what you want each mail to say, as well as banners, style sheet, footers and headers!
3. Integrated I-Cal (for those who uses it)!
4. 100% CSS compliant!

* And * as usual we spent a lot of our time correcting and redesigning the entire system making it even more stable, secure and powerful!

The countdown is nearing and the team has been putting in extra effort these last weeks to give you our friends and supporters the best that keeps on getting better! It's our way of saying THANK YOU! For being patient and for being a part of the SuperMod family!

There were some issues with upgrades to server side software (PHP and MySQL) that has delayed the release.  See b the following quote from another thread:

Dear SM community,

I hate to be bringer of bad news but Supermod will not be released anytime soon. PHP5 has been released and due to its changes I need to make changes in Supermod. Ever since the release of PHP 4.4.1 predefined variables have been depreciated. What that means is I've ran into some new problems with Supermod.. It won't run on PHP5 or 4.4.1 in IIS. The code base we been using were built on php version standards prior to those new versions PHP released. I am currently going through every single file of SM and converting the http_var predefines that are throughout all of the code to the new standards. Then after I accomplish this I will have to throughly test everything, make more tweaks, debug and retest multiple times over. I need help with this and like always I am doubting my own abilitys and I fear I won't be able to convert SM to work with the changes. So please if you see me struggling too long and think you can help out please give me a hand ok? Thanks for understanding and sorry the delays.  Here's the link from PHP's website that specs out the new changes, http://us2.php.net/reserved.variables. I do not know yet what else other than these specs I will need to change in SM code, I guess I'll find that out as I go along.

Sigh.. just when we started to see the end of the long tunnel..

Well, it's nearly 1 year ago, but since then a lot has evolved.
In the new version of supermod will be a new admin interface which has already been programmed. Wiziwig and maybe others are working on making the new supermod sourcecode compatible with php 4.x ...
I cannot clearly state whether or not the new release will occur this year, because I do not exactly know what Wiziwig is currently working on, but I have stated that I will contribute to the current programming process, which Wiziwig certainly is on. Only as soon as I have time (I am writing an exam this year), I can state in more detail how far we have come. Maybe Wiziwig can make a statement here.
I personally am working on a mediawiki implementation and have nearly finished a new menu implementation with window-boxes on top of the site. All these things still have to get implemented, but are working on my local site.

Yeah nearly a year. You gotta understand tho.. since that time Datarunner and I have started out hitting the code base very hard with a strongly dedicated amount of time between us in have made the code base 90% for sure compliant with PHP 5 and MySQL 5. But both of us had sudden changes in our lives. Datarunner has school and he has exams and he was coming up into his finals. I on the hand had moved from my home, had resigned my position with the company I worked for, have given up and everything I built up on the last 25 years and moved to a new state 650 miles away and a new job. You can read about the changes I been undergoing in the chit chat section if you really want to. So between us, and its only been Datarunner and I for the conversion process, both of our time has been taken away from SM for the last 4 months or so. And I havent made it easy for any other developers to jump in, they have to do so via remote pc'ing onto my development machine. Why? because on the develoment machine I'm running with MySQL 5 and PHP 5.. on the server that SM site runs under, it still is MySQL 4 something and PHP 4.4.1. But, things are beginning to settle in for us now. At least for me and Datarunner. He just recently asked if we can get back to work on this so that we can get it on the SM site real soon. He's still redeveloping the Admin panel and shortly soon him and I should be able to do a trial full test of what we've accomplished. Once we do that we'll push out the beta package, anticipate that to happen by September.
